Our History
The first location of CAMPUS was in Ann Arbor, MI near the University of Michigan.
Michigan Conference became the first North American Division department focused solely on ministry on secular university and college campuses.
CAMPUS was established as the main center for Michigan conference’s Public Campus Ministries Department.
CAMPUS headquarters was moved to East Lansing with the purchase of a house just a few blocks from the campus of Michigan State University.

The Problem
Research shows there’s a growing crisis of isolation on college campuses.
Loneliness
44% of college students feel lonely often, says a 2023 ACHA survey.
Social Media & Isolation
61% of 18-25-year-olds feel more isolated by social media, per a 2024 Pew study.

35% of isolated students face anxiety or depression, per the 2023 NCHA report.

Public Campus Ministries
The Public Campus Ministry Department builds and oversees the work of public campus ministry in several ways:
Support System
Helping students address and navigate sabbath observance and other issues. Building and defending their faith through bible studies and other resources.
Pastoral Care/Mentorship
Providing pastoral care and mentorship as students experience academic and social college life.
Partnership
Partnering with pastors on or near university towns by providing training and assisting them in their public campus ministry.
